Transport for NSW Illawarra-Shoalhaven Regional Transport Plan 2021 to 2041 (Draft)
In January 2021, RDA Illawarra welcomed the opportunity to provide comment on the Illawarra-Shoalhaven Regional Transport Plan (Draft RTP) 2021 to 2041 as developed by Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW).
The Draft RTP provided a high-level strategic plan for transport to, from and within the Illawarra- Shoalhaven region. RDA was supportive of the vision in the Draft RTP and the objectives developed to deliver the six key themes - connected, safe, liveable, adaptive, productive and resilient.
In conjunction with the vision in Future Transport 2056, the Draft RTP's regional focus on how people and good will travel to, within and through the Illawarra-Shoalhaven region by 2041 reflected key trends that will shape the transport agenda for the years to come. Further, RDA Illawarra believes that delivery and progress reporting are key to maintaining community trust in the planning process and provided a range of recommendations to improve transparency in that area.
RDA Illawarra believes the goal of developing the Regional Transport Plan alongside the Regional Plan is a progressive move and one for which TfNSW and the Department of Planning, Infrastructure and Environment (DPIE) should be congratulated.
