Laurie is the Chairman of the Alkath Group. Its subsidiary companies, Global Defence Solutions and Resilience Logistic Solutions, provide deployable shelters and life support systems to defence and emergency services. These shelters range from kitchens through to operating theatres all packaged into tents, expandable containers or platform based pods.
Another subsidiary company, Mellori Solutions, provides testing, training, and support services for electronic defensive aid suites on military aircraft, helicopters, ships, and vehicles.
For his sins, he is the current Chair of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Regional Defence Network and committed to increasing the scope and quality of career opportunities for local young adults.
Laurie and his wife, Fran, have lived in the Shoalhaven for over 25 years and are volunteer members with the NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW Marine Rescue respectively. Despite having lived in some exotic locations throughout the world during their Army careers they now, most definitely, call the Shoalhaven home.
